Scale
-
Coccoidea
They are oddly shaped and mostly immobile. These appear as clusters of tiny bumps and usually won't be noticed until the damage is done. Scale can be armored or soft bodied. Armored secrete protective shell around themselves. They live and feed within that shell. Soft bodied secrete a waxy film (honeydew) attached to their bodies in very large amounts. They are flat spherical shaped. Damage will include yellow leaves, reduced vigor and poor growth. Natural predators of scale are lady bugs and lacewing, but only of young larva.

Recommended Solution Name

Prune all infected areas, if able.  This is easier with indoor plants.  Small amounts can be rubbed off or picked off by hand; or dabbed with qtip dipped in rubbing alcohol, neem oil or horticulture oil.  Insecticidal soaps can be used at the larvae level, but may not kill the bugs once they are attached and feeding.
