This is a low growing succulent ground cover. Named hens and chicks because the mother plant (hen) produces numerous babies (chicks). Each plant is a rosette shape and can be in shades of green, blue, red and copper. These are incredibly easy to grow. They need very little water or soil, so a rocky dry area where nothing else will grow is great for these. They can bloom light pink or reddish purple in the summer on tall stalks. The hen will die after blooming. Divide the chicks from the hen regularly, every year or so, to prevent over crowding. Plant in well drained soil.
