Hibiscus syriacus is a hardier variety of hibiscus and will do well in cooler climates. This is an exotic perennial with large trumpet like, ruffled flowers in shades of pink, red, magenta and white. Blooms can get as big as dinner plates and the plant grows fast. There is a wide range of colors and sizes. These are easy to care for once established, as long as they have enough sun and water. Hardy hibiscus are a wetland plants, so they will do best around a water feature or pond. Otherwise just keep them moist. You can also keep these as container plants and bring inside during the winter months. Plant in well drained, loamy, moist soil.
